For many people, having missing teeth can cause emotional distress and problems with eating, biting and chewing. Fortunately, bridges and dentures can help to eliminate these problems as well as provide a more aesthetic look and facial structure. For Bayside dentures, Dr. Stuart Shaffren, DDS, has been providing patients with durable and long lasting, beautiful dentures for many years.
Bridges can be used to replace missing teeth with an artificial set. It looks natural and helps to maintain the face shape. Bridges work as an actual “bridge” over the gap where the original teeth once were. Bridges can be made from many different materials, such as alloys, porcelain, gold or even a combination of materials. After an initial consultation and measurement, the bridges are then created before being bonded onto the surrounding teeth. Bridges and Bayside dentures come in two types – fixed and removable. Fixed bridges stay inside the mouth at all times and are supported by the natural teeth. Removable bridges, also known as full and partial dentures, can be removed from the mouth up to several times per day for cleaning. They rest on top of the gum where the missing teeth once were.
Dr. Shaffren is experienced in many other cosmetic and restorative dental procedures. He has been in practice providing his patients with Bayside dentures for over 35 years. Our office also provides complete dental exams and cleanings, dental implants, veneers, teeth whitening procedures, extractions, periodontal therapy and more. Our website provides much more information about bridges and dentures and acts as a resource for our patient’s dental questions, needs and concerns. We also pride ourselves on being committed to keeping our offices clean, friendly and with the most up to date equipment, so as to always provide our patients with the most accurate test results and diagnoses.
